About the event

The very heart of Spring and the birds and frogs have been joined by a teeming variety of insects, whose hypnotic chirping adds such rich layers to the natural soundscape of the farm. The tender leaves of oak and ash and beech now transform the woodlands into a sea of green and the cows can browse to their hearts’ content.

It is now that the sun may begin to hint at hotter days to come and the whole landscape is so fat with new life that it appears to be bursting at the seams.

Simplicity is the essence and foundation of the all the Retreats we hold on the farm.

Practical Info:

This translates into a clear basic structure that enables us to focus attention on the act of simply being:

......................................................................................................

-Breakfast

-Morning session: silent meditational walks in the local landscape.

-Lunch / Free time

-Afternoon session: sitting in quietness with the cows.

-Evening meal

-Wildlife watching / Free time

.....................................................................................................

Our guides during the Retreat are our two herds of cows. Their sacred presence provides the atmospheric platform for meditations and contact with the Heart, for this is our experience in their company.

It is their unthinking beingness that inspires us to remember who we truly are, free from concepts, mental bondage and beliefs.

As well as the meditational sessions, there is ample time to simply be alone, exploring the 100 acres of beautiful wooded landscape our farm offers.

We serve delicious organic vegetarian and vegan food, with most of the fresh produce coming from our orchards or vegetable garden.

The idea for the Retreats naturally arose several months after the death of a beloved brother. In the grief that followed his suicide, it became clear that time spent in the company of the cows had the effect of bringing a deep quietness, in which the pain could simply not exist.

The sanctuary that through them Life provided, became something so tangible and undeniable, that the feeling came to simply share what was happening in their presence.
